Suvarnabhumi Airport, also informally known as Bangkok Airport, is one of two international airports that serve Bangkok, Thailand. The other airport is Don Mueang International Airport, which functioned as the primary international airport from 1924 to 2006. In 2007, it transitioned to become the hub for low-cost airlines in Bangkok. Suvarnabhumi spans an area of 3,240 hectares (32.4 square kilometers; 8,000 acres), making it one of the largest international airports in Southeast Asia and a central hub for aviation in the region.
